Pork Chop, Mash Potatoes With Gravy And Peas

Ingredients:

For the Pork Chops:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 3/4 inch thick
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Peas:

  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pork Chops:

  1. Season both sides of the pork chops with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

2. Make the Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter and milk to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Prepare the Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet used for the pork chops, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns golden brown.
  3. Slowly whisk in the beef or chicken broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  4. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Cook the Peas:

  1. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the frozen peas and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Serve:

  1. Plate the cooked pork chops alongside a generous scoop of mashed potatoes.
  2. Ladle the gravy over the pork chops and mashed potatoes.
  3. Serve the buttered peas on the side.
  4. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives if desired.
