Spaghetti

Posted on January 6, 2024
Spaghetti is a classic and versatile pasta dish loved by many. Here’s a simple recipe for a traditional spaghetti with tomato sauce:Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (about 225g) spaghetti pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the spaghetti pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Cook until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a separate large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about a minute or until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce in the skillet. Toss the spaghetti gently in the sauce until it’s well coated.
  8. Serve the spaghetti on plates or in bowls. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.

Feel free to customize your spaghetti by adding cooked meatballs, sautéed vegetables, or fresh herbs. It’s a simple and satisfying meal that can be adapted to suit your preferences!
