Sticky Chicken

Sticky chicken is a flavorful dish featuring tender chicken coated in a sticky, savory-sweet sauce. Here’s a recipe to create this delicious dish:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the sauce.
  3. Heat a bit of cooking oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the seasoned chicken to the hot skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the prepared sauce mixture. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  7. Once the sauce has thickened, return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it evenly with the sticky sauce. Allow it to simmer together for a couple of minutes, ensuring the chicken is well coated.
  8. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top for garnish, if desired.
  9. Serve the sticky chicken hot over rice or alongside vegetables of your choice.

This dish offers a delicious balance of sweet and savory flavors. Adjust the sweetness or add a bit of heat with chili flakes or Sriracha according to your taste preferences.
