What You’ll Need (Makes 12 Puffs)

Posted on September 18, 2025

Here’s a general list of what you’ll need to make 12 savory or sweet puffs, like cheese puffs (gougères) or cream puffs (choux pastry). Let me know which version you’re going for — but here’s the classic choux pastry base (used for both sweet and savory puffs):

🧁 What You’ll Need (Makes 12 Puffs)

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 4 large eggs

  • Optional:

    • 1/2 to 1 cup grated cheese (like Gruyère or cheddar) for savory puffs

    • 1–2 tsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract for sweet cream puffs

🍽 Equipment:

  • Medium saucepan

  • Wooden spoon or heatproof spatula

  • Mixing bowl

  • Piping bag (or a spoon for scooping)

  • Baking sheet

  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

  • Oven preheated to 400°F (200°C)

Let me know:

  • Are you making cheesy gougères, classic cream puffs, or filled savory puffs?

  • Do you want a filling recipe too (like whipped cream, pastry cream, or savory cheese spread)?
